Snjezana Jazic, known as “Gina,” was born and raised in Bosnia, a country in Southeastern Europe. She married Beto Jazic, an electrician who was also well known locally for his soccer talent. Gina worked as an accountant until war broke out in Yugoslavia in 1992.
As part of the breakup of Yugoslavia, the Bosnian War became an international armed conflict that devastated Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995. When the United States intervened in 1995, Gina and her husband were forced to flee their home with their young daughter and seek refuge in America.
Leaving behind their family, home, possessions, financial security, and homeland, they arrived in the United States with very little. An immigration sponsor helped them begin again by providing housing and employment opportunities.
While learning English, Gina began working for a small optical supply company in Fort Worth, Texas. Through years of dedication, hard work, respectful treatment of others, and sound decision-making, Gina ultimately achieved her dream of owning and operating her own small business.
